The Appointed Directors of the Board consist of the President of FIU or his/her designee, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Research, and the Dean of the College of Medicine.  After nomination by the Board of Directors, the President of FIU also selects four other directors consisting of two members of the FIU faculty, one representative of the FIU Deans, and one representative of the FIU alumni.  The rest of the members of the Board are nominated and elected (Elected Directors) from members of the Miami-Dade County community, based on qualifications that may be aligned with the strategic objectives of the FIU-RF.

The 2008-2009 Board members include: the President of FIU, Mark B. Rosenberg, Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Douglas Wartzok , Senior Vice President for Research Development and Graduate Education and Dean of the University Graduate School George E. Walker (President’s Designee), College of Medicine Founding Dean John Rock, Fernando Miralles-Wilhelm and Mario de la Rosa (faculty representatives), José Almirall (alumni representative), Kenneth Furton (dean representative), Sandra Gonzalez-Levy, and Robert (Bob) Epling.
